As a club, we are heading into our 150th Year in 2023, something which we, as a club and Foundation are incredibly proud of. The Foundation has supported the club since its introduction in 2006 and has been a vital part of the local community.
For the club’s 150th year, we wanted to launch a project that would target the next generation of Wakefield Trinity Fans. As of today, Monday 21st November, we will be launching an initiative in Primary Schools throughout the Wakefield District, which will allow up to 150 Primary schools to access FREE Rugby League taster sessions, as part of Wakefield Trinity’s 150 Year celebrations. We hope that this will inspire a new generation of fans to follow the club, as well as develop a love of Rugby League.
Speaking on the launch, Head of Foundation, Mark Brennan, said, “This is a great initiative to kick start our 150th Year celebrations, I would encourage as many schools as possible to take this offer up, the sessions will be delivered by our expert coaches with the key aim to ensure the children have fun whilst learning new skills.
“This is the first of many initiatives, which will be offered to schools throughout 2023 as a year of celebration for Wakefield Trinity, we aim to deliver these sessions across the borough and hopefully it will allow us to engage with over 8,500 school children’
The hope of the taster sessions is that this will allow many more schools and children the opportunity to access the game of Rugby League, with the hope that schools see what we can offer through our delivery and packages, and book in one of our Wakefield Trinity Rugby League 6 week coaching blocks, which are priced at £500, and come with a lot of additional benefits to school, including player visits, ticket offers and festival invites!
If you currently work at or know a school that may be interested in the FREE taster sessions, please ask them to get in touch with our Head of Education, Luke Shale at luke.shale@wakefieldtrinity.com to book their place!
