Trinity Ladies complete Gambhir signing

Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL is delighted to announce the signing of Gayatri Gambhir on a permanent deal, with the option to loan back to the University of Leeds.

Following the likes of Becky Grady and Amy Bennett, Gambhir is well-known to the Trinity players, testing herself on a weekly basis at university level.

However, after impressing the Trinity coaching staff in recent weeks, we are delighted to welcome Gambhir for the 2022 season.

Starting her Rugby League journey relatively late, she started playing the sport once she had started in Leeds, soon finding her feet in the 13-code game.

Working with the university coaches before starting at the Be Well Support Stadium under the tutelage of Liam Harnell and Ash Bond, Gambhir is flourishing and is now looking forward to the 2022 season.

“The Head of Women’s Rugby at Trinity, James Stephenson, came to one of our uni games and asked me to come down to training.

“There was already a couple of the girls from the university team going and they spoke very highly of Wakefield, so I was excited to come down and give it a go.”

Looking to make her Super League debut in 2022, Gambhir has been working hard with the rest of the squad in the offseason and is excited about the challenge ahead.

“My personal aims are to be the best player I can be, including improving in terms of both physicality and skills.

“I hope to make my Super League debut and I could be pushing it with this one but would be amazing to score a couple of tries.”

Gayatri become our most recent signing and you can see her in action tomorrow in our first pre-season friendly against Hull KR.
