Match Preview | Wakefield Trinity Ladies vs Hull KR

Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL start their 2022 journey with a pre-season clash against Hull KR as we gear up to the new season.

Ourselves

After a big overhaul in the offseason, Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL start the new campaign with 14 new faces, after Georgia Pitman-Smith and Megan Preston signed on the dotted line last weekend.

With the Women’s Super League being split into two for the forthcoming year, Trinity will be hoping to maintain a consistent form throughout 2022 and move up the league positions.

Starting their pre-season early in preparation for a busy year, the side will hope to maintain the spirit they have shown throughout pre-season and get a positive result on Sunday.

Hull KR

Sunday’s friendly will be the newly-promoted Hull KR Women’s first game since their triumph over Dewsbury Moor Ladies last summer in the League 1 Grand Final.

The pre-season has brought a series of changes for the Robins as the side came under the club’s umbrella in late 2021 to help step up their preparation for a new challenge.

The Coach:

Coach Liam Harnell is excited to see what his new-look side can offer when they travel across the M62 to Humberside as our pre-season journey begins.

“It’s our first run out in what feels like such a long time, I know the girls are eager to put all the hard work they’ve done over pre-season into practice.

“I’m hoping we can get a pretty good measure of what progress we have made during the offseason, which will then inform our last preparations before the challenge cup run of fixtures.

“As coaching staff, we will be looking to make changes within the squad to have a good look at different combinations. We have been blessed this year with a playing group that is versatile and able to play different positions.
