Wakefield Trinity winger, Amy Bennett insists that the side is learning from their mistakes as we head into this weekend’s game against Warrington.
Following a 28-14 defeat to Leigh last Sunday, Trinity has been back on the pitch this week, working to regain their form ahead of a busy Super League season.
Tries from Saskia Lewis, Abby Price and Leonie Lawson have given the side optimism, though, and Bennett is confident the side will bounce back.
“The result was disappointing, but it is something for us to learn as a team. We’ve just got to understand where we went wrong and move forward.
“There were a few decisions that didn’t quite go our way, but we need to just play the game and cut out any unforced errors.
“There were some good spells to our game, where we really worked together as a team, and we need to keep doing this and supporting each other.”
Starting on the left-wing, Bennett has come accustomed to the touchline in recent weeks starting every game so far in the 2022 season.
However, due to injuries in the pack, she was forced to play a number of positions on Sunday, including fullback, something she is quite familiar with.
“I started off on the wing, but during the first half was moved to fullback, which I enjoyed as I felt I was able to get more involved.
“Luckily, I played this position during the winter league for Leeds University, so I was able to put this experience to good use and felt confident in the role.”
Games are now coming thick and fast for Trinity as we look to dust ourselves down, ready to face Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones.
Being from that side of the country, Bennett made multiple appearances for the Wolves over a number of years, and she is excited to come up against her former side on Sunday.
“I am really looking forward to playing against my former club, Warrington.
“They are a strong team, but we’ve just got to go out there and give it our all, and work together as a team.”
