Doherty previews Warrington trip

Wakefield Trinity coach, Charlie Doherty, reflects on our Round One outing as we prepare to face Warrington at the Halliwell Jones on Sunday.

Reflecting on our game against Leigh – how did you feel the side shaped up in their first game of the season?

The opener against Leigh gave us loads to think about in terms of where we need to improve. However, there were also quite a few positives to take from it despite the result and that’s what the focus has been on this week.

As mentioned in your post-match interview – how pleased are you with our attacking display?

When we stuck to what we’d worked on in training we came away with points, but I think we realised that too late and gave ourselves too much to do.

We have had a week of training, how have the ladies prepared for the upcoming game against Warrington?

Preparation has been good. We’ve reviewed the Leigh game and had a good open and honest chat about what we need to do to be better and I feel like that has given training a really good feeling this week, hopefully, it translates onto the pitch on Sunday.

Watching the clips back – have you had a chance to pick apart the areas of improvement and how will the side put these into action?

Yes, we went through the performance as a team and individually during the week and came up with areas we need to be better in. This helped us set some targets for the upcoming fixtures which if met will show a real improvement in this squad.

We’re coming up against a really solid Warrington side – how much do you know about our opposition?

Having played against Warrington last season we know that they are a tough, well drilled side that like to spread the ball. The additions they’ve made to their squad this season mean they’re going to be up there challenging for that number 1 spot, so we’re looking forward to a tough challenge this Sunday.
