We are delighted to welcome eleven new Under 15 faces to our Scholarship programme for 2020/21.
The new Scholarship recruits will join the Under 16 cohort to start their two-year development journey in November when the youth programme is due to restart, COVID-19 permitting.
The Scholarship is the first stage of the professional pathway for aspiring Rugby League players and provides young athletes with a two-year programme which focuses on developing them holistically as people. The programme focuses on their technical and tactical development, their athletic development and their psychosocial development with the aim of providing them with an excellent grounding and platform to excel in all walks of life when they move on to the next stage of their journeys.
Head of Youth, Mark Applegarth, is delighted with the clubs new recruits.
“First and foremost I would like to thank Josh Riding and the talent ID team for all their hard work over the last year,” said Applegarth.
“Obviously this year’s rugby delivery has been severely disrupted due to COVID-19 and is the reason we have only handed out eleven scholarships instead of the full 20 as normal.
“Josh and the talent ID team will be out actively looking for new recruits to join the scholarship when the community game restarts so I would like to stress to all the kids that haven’t been offered a scholarship yet that the door is certainly not shut and we are always looking for talented youngsters to provide opportunities to and progress through our pathway”.
