To celebrate World Food Day 2023, the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is delighted to be both supporting and supported by Wakefield Street Kitchen as part of our Trinity Under the Stars fundraiser.
Following from last year’s overwhelming success, the Foundation was keen to bring back our now annual sleepout for 2023, working with the partners who made the event so special last year.
After working closely with Wakefield Street Kitchen last November, inviting the charitable organisation back for this year was a no-brainer, looking at finer ways we could support them in the lead-up to Christmas.
Founded in 2019 by Anna Howard, the kitchen lives to support the lives of others, working from a WF1 postcode, preparing hot & nutritious meals for both a street kitchen every Wednesday evening and a ‘Meals on Wheels’ service.
To further help the charity, the Foundation has been running an appeal on half of the Kitchen, working with schools, local businesses and members of the Wakefield community to help raise food items, setting up different donation points across the area.
Trinity supporters and members of the public alike are urged to drop off any unwanted tinned or dried goods at the Ridings Club Shop, which will all go to supporting those in need this winter.
Furthermore, in support of Trinity Under the Stars 2023, Wakefield Street Kitchen has kindly offered to source, prepare, cook and serve all the food on the evening of the event, working with Warburtons to help stage an event and an appeal that is close to their hearts.
Speaking on the support they have offered the Foundation over the last couple of years, Media & Commercial Executive, William Moore, said “I cannot thank Anna & her team enough for all of their support and I am really pleased that they are in the position to help us once again in 2023.
“To have them involved is fantastic and to be able to utilise our brand in the community to provide them with supplies for such a worthwhile cause is fantastic.”
While Anna from Wakefield Street Kitchen, followed, “As it is World Food Day a basic human right, Wakefield Street Kitchen endeavours to carry on with our goal #feedingthecommunity.
“Working alongside the Foundation through ‘Trinity Under the Stars’, we hope to create more awareness for so many in desperate need.”
If you have any unwanted food items which you would like to donate to the street kitchen, please head to the Wakefield Trinity Club Shop in the Ridings Shopping Centre. Alternatively, please click HERE to sign up for Trinity Under the Stars.
