The Oakes 9 Draw

Wakefield Trinity are delighted to announce that the matchday half-time draw will now be called ‘The Oakes 9 Draw’, in honour of Geoff Oakes who played for the club in the 1950’s & 60’s.

Geoff, who played hooker in both Challenge Cup final victories at Wembley in 1960 & 1962, made 193 appearances for the club, scoring eight tries in two spells between 1958-1964 & 1967-1968.

‘The Oakes 9’ draw will return for our fixture with Warrington Wolves on Sunday 15th August.

Customer Experience Executive Darren Williams said: “It’s fitting we honour Geoff in this way and recognise his achievements in our history.

“Not only have we named the draw in his name but we have also revamped the draw with nine prizes to mark the number 9 jersey that Geoff proudly pulled on for the Club. The daily draw tickets will feature a photo of Geoff in his playing days along with a list of his club statistics”.
