On Monday evening, Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation once again linked up with a fellow Rugby League Club, making the trip to Bradford Bulls for our final Summer Series test of the season.
After the first leg of our two-part game with Salford Red Devils was postponed earlier in the Summer, the side headed across the M62 to face the Greater Manchester club as our under-15s and under-16s sides played out two thrilling games ahead of the final contest on Monday evening.
With over 46 players signed up across each age group, our Summer Series programme has never been more supported, playing multiple 20-minute games against experienced opposition, offering the players involved the chance to learn and test themselves in a unique environment against new teams.
To further incentivise the programme, Academy & Scholarship coaches from Wakefield Trinity also have a keen eye on players for their prospective teams leading into the new season, with many players being offered contracts within the Club’s youth set-up over the past couple of years.
With the summer arm of the programme coming to an end on Monday, the Foundation will now look at the Autumn season, with Community Clubs coming to a close for the winter break, we are looking to help continue development with those who are keen to further enhance their skills.
Speaking on the overall Summer programme, Rugby League & Inclusion Manager, Charlie Doherty, said, “I am delighted with the response we have had over the past couple of months.
“From training to games, the participants have taken their chance with two hands and we are extremely pleased with how they have applied themselves over the past few months.
“We are now looking forward to the Autumn Series and hope to see a few old, and new, faces join us for the next set of sessions.”
We would also like to thank our sponsors for their continued support, Cantidad Limited, Bags 4 Everything, The Yorkshire Broker, Home Instead Wakefield, RZ-Clean, MY Hospitals Charity, Andy’s Man Club and Trinity Walk.
Dates for our Autumn Series will be announced in due course. For more information on the programme, please email charlie.doherty@wakefieldtrinity.com.
