Sio Leaves Trinity by Mutual Consent

Wakefield Trinity can confirm that Mikey Sio has left the club by mutual consent.

Sio, 24, joined Trinity back in 2015 on a one and a half year deal from the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup. He later went on to sign a new two-year deal in 2016 which would see Sio remain at Trinity until the end of 2018.

The Samoan International has made 39 appearances in his time at Trinity and has had two stints out on loan; at Dewsbury and Halifax.

Mikey Sio said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Wakefield, I learnt a lot as a player under both Brian Smith and Chris Chester. There is a good bunch of lads at the club who made me feel extremely welcome and at home and I will definitely miss the camaraderie within the team.

“I would like to thank the fans for their support, they welcomed me with open arms and even now when I walk around the town they stop me for a chat. I would have to say that Wakefield Trinity are a club with the most passionate fans.”

Chairman, Michael Carter commented, “I would like to thank Mikey for his service to the Club since arriving at a difficult time in 2015. His contribution was invaluable at that time, and I wish him every success in the future.”
