Tries from James Patrickson, Harry Dodd and Daniel Barcoe were not enough as the Under 19’s fell at the hand of the Saints.
Trinity travelled to the Totally Wicked Stadium hoping to carry on their rich vein of form, however, they met a Saints side who also had some form to keep.
It wasn’t until the 14th minute that we had the first try. After some tightly-contested opening exchange’s, it was the home side who drew first. Saints worked the ball well into centre field, where it eventually found Harry Brooks, who powered over the Trinity line to score. The first kick of the game was converted to give the home side a six-point advantage.
And with just two minutes until the break, Saints doubled their lead. After some late pressure on the Trinity line, the ball is held up in the try area. But from the next play, Matty Foster powered over the Trinity line to put the home side 12-0 up at the break.
However, there seemed to be a momentum shift and after winning back-to-back penalties, Trinity were within six. Dodd rushing onto an oncoming pass in the 44th minute to power over the Saints defence to score. Connor Bailey adding his first kick of the game to make the scores 12-6.
But the celebration was short-lived and just four minutes later, Saints reclaimed their 12 point cushion. After some pressure on the Trinity line, the grubber kick came in and Sam Royle was on hand to put the ball down. Dodd added the extras for the Saints.
However, the scoring didn’t stop there and just four minutes later, Trinity pulled one back. Barcoe powering over the Saints defence from dummy-half to score Wakefield’s second try of the game. Bailey maintaining his 100% record with the boot to put Trinity within six.
And then it was Trinity’s turn to have some momentum and it paid off. Some great Wakefield defence forced a Saints error on halfway and from the following set, James Patrickson latched onto an oncoming pass to draw the away side level.

But that was it for Trinity and the remaining 20 minutes, it was all Saints as two tries for the home side put Wakefield to the sword. Their first coming from another Harry Dodd grubber, which found Josh Simm waiting in the Trinity try area to score. And with just four minutes remaining, Saints added to their advantage once again. The ball was played down the short side to Bradley Holroyd, who went in to score. Dodd kicking both tries to make the final score 30 points to 18
