Wakefield Trinity have agreed a unique sustainability partnership that will improve efficiency at its Mobile Rocket Stadium and attract new hospitality and match sponsorship.
The collaboration with West Yorkshire sustainability specialist Core Facility Services comes ahead of exciting development plans at the venue and will see the two organisations work together to manage energy costs and usage.
Core will become Wakefield Trinity’s official facilities management partnership in a three-year deal that will also see the firm become a hospitality and match sponsor.
The stadium has been the home of Wakefield Trinity for nearly 150 years and last year the club acquired the freehold of the stadium and adjoining land, marking the first stage of an ambitious redevelopment plan for the site, which includes a 300-capacity hospitality area.
Club owner Michael Carter said he was committed to making the venue more sustainable by saving energy and reducing overheads.
He said: “We are looking forward to working closely with Core to get the best value from our energy by purchasing more strategically and identifying ways to use less.
“Core will be helping us look at reducing our environmental impact in other ways too as our relationship grows,” he added.
Gareth Henderson, chairman of Core, said: “We have a strong track record of helping sports clubs manage costs and sustainability to make sure they keep their overheads as low as possible without compromising on visitor experience.
“We are always keen to offer financial support to the clubs we work with and we are delighted to confirm that we will be sponsoring Wakefield Trinity as part of our partnership.”
Gareth said the project coincided perfectly with Wakefield Trinity’s wider plans and any savings generated would mean extra money for investment at a critical time for the club. He also encouraged other sports clubs to contact Core to explore similar partnership deals.
