Kirmond Staying With Wakey!!

December 9, 2025

Wakefield Trinity can confirm that Danny Kirmond has agreed a contract extension with the club until the end of the 2029 season.

The deal brings Kirmond in line with Head Coach, Daryl Powell and the club’s other First Team Assistant Coach, Michael Shenton.

After a glittering on field career that included 173 games in Trinity’s Red, White and Blue, Kirmond transitioned into coaching following his final season with York Knights at the start of 2024.

Daryl Powell brought the Wakefield legend back to the club having spent 9 seasons with the club between 2012 and 2020.

Danny Kirmond said: “I’m excited to get the deal over the line and the news that I will be at the club long term out there. I’m super happy to have my contract in line with Daryl Powell and Michael Shenton’s. Having consistency within the coaching staff is something that is really important for a club and helps with player development as they develop a trust within the staff and build confidence with the coaches.

Director of Rugby, Ste Mills said: “I’m really pleased Danny has resigned with the club. He brings great energy, and a genuine passion for Wakefield Trinity to the Coaching group. He’s a big part of what we’re building, and I’m delighted he’s staying with us. It was important for us to bring him in line with Daryl and Michael’s contracts creating real stability in our Coaching setup.”
