Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation was delighted to present a cheque of £1,323.50 to MY Hospitals Charity following the success of Walk with Wakey 2023.

Following a strenuous 8.2-mile hike, 25 walkers completed the journey in just over three hours, raising an incredible amount of funds to support the Foundation’s ongoing work in the community as well as MY Hospitals Charity.

From Foundation staff members to the general public, the community, once again, pulled together to support those who need it most, with half of the funds heading straight to the Children’s Ward at Pinderfields Hospital.

Over the last year, the Foundation has partnered heavily with MY Hospitals Charity and their pursuit to support and enhance the services provided by the Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which works across three hospitals situated across West Yorkshire.

Starting with the fundraising for a new MRI Scanner back last October, the Foundation is keen to support the Charity where we can, donating 1700 books earlier this year before working with Nuffield Health to supply countless Easter Eggs to those in the Children’s Ward over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Following the outstanding fundraising by the participants who took part in Walk with Wakey, the Foundation was delighted to be able to drop off a cheque of over £1300 last week.

Speaking on the handing over of the cheque, MY Hospitals Charity Chairman, Keith Ramsay, said, “On behalf of the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, I would like to say a huge well done and thanks to Wakefield Trinity and all those who took part in this year’s ‘Walk with Wakey’.

“It is amazing to see how many people came together for this wonderful event, sharing the message to help our hospitals do more.

“All funds raised will really help our staff, youngest patients and their families experience during their time at Pinderfields Hospital Children’s Department.”
