A word from the CEO and Alex Simmons

Yesterday afternoon, Wakefield Trinity took the unprecedented action to improve their knowledge as a club around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as the Black Lives Matter movement, by completing a club-wide training course delivered by global agency IMA, led by their head of diversity Alex Simmons and colleague Heena Mistry.

85 members of the club including first team, coaching staff, off-field staff, academy, scholarship, community and women’s team members were present and the session was recorded to be shared and referred to internally.

Michael Carter commented: “I’ve been very impressed with the presentation and content of the EDI interactive seminar given by Alex and his team yesterday.

“Despite the Club having a fine record on these pertinent matters, it showed me just how much more work needs to be done, and today is the first step on the journey for this Club.

“I look forward to continuing the process culminating with the Club having its very own defined processes of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.”

Alex Simmons added: “After some really positive action taken by Warrington Wolves it’s fantastic to see Wakefield Trinity buy into understanding and giving every member of their club a base level of education around EDI to all members of the organisation.

“To see 16 year old academy players take part in the workshop and ask insightful questions around diversity is a strong first step in the clubs journey to be totally inclusive with a diverse culture that sets ambitious targets around the subject.

We at IMA are really pleased to support the club and we look forward to help the club develop a robust EDI policy”

Wakefield Trinity as a Club fully stand behind the Black Lives Matter powerful message of equality and we are fully committed to growing our diversity initiative and culture of inclusion.
