10 Schools compete in RZ-Clean-Seal Primary Tag Festival!

July 2, 2026

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation were delighted to host 10 of our Partner Primary Schools for the 2026 RZ-Clean-Seal Primary Tag Festival at the DIY Kitchens Stadium this week!

The Foundation delivers Rugby League to Primary Schools across the Wakefield District and to conclude our delivery for the 2025/26 academic year, we invited Schools to take part in our annual Primary Tag Festival hosted at the DIY Kitchens Stadium.

More than 100 children from 10 Primary Schools took part in the Festival as we welcomed:

  • Cowick CoE Primary School
  • Mackie Hill Junior & Infant School
  • Methodist Junior & Infants School
  • Normanton Junior Academy
  • Outwood Primary Academy Bell Lane
  • Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane
  • Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate
  • Outwood Primary Academy Park Hill
  • Snapethorpe Primary School
  • St John The Baptist Catholic Primary School

The Schools were given the opportunity to compete against each other in a series of small-sided matches, with the contests refereed by players from our Boys Aspire programme.

Wakefield Trinity Men’s First-Team stars Oli Pratt, Cameron Scott, Jayden Myers and Tray Lolesio were also in attendance during the Festival to present medals to the children, sign autographs and even get involved in the occasional fixture!

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation Primary Rugby League Specialist, Grace King, said: “It was brilliant to be able to welcome a range of different Schools that the Foundation have been working in over the past two years for our Festival on the pitch to celebrate the end of the school year.

“We had a mix of Year 5 and 6 children, so it’s been great to provide an experience for those children leaving for High Schools this summer, and to give the schools opportunities to play against other teams that they wouldn’t usually play against.

“For some of these children, this will have been the highlight of their year, representing their school rugby team here at the DIY Kitchens Stadium.

“A lot of the children we coach at Primary School level haven’t picked up a rugby ball before our delivery, and since, a lot of pupils have started playing rugby on the back of our coaching at their school. It’s great to see children like them, who have since become Wakefield fans, playing here at the Stadium today.”

Our Primary Rugby League delivery is proudly partnered by RZ-Clean-Seal, sponsors of the Foundation since 2023.

“Festivals like this would not be possible without the support that we’ve received from RZ-Clean-Seal,” added Grace, “and it was amazing to welcome Geoff to the Stadium to see first-hand the impact that his support has on children across Wakefield.”

Geoff Hunt, Managing Director at RZ-Clean-Seal, said: “It’s been fantastic to see so many kids enjoying themselves, celebrating their tries and just having a great time! It’s amazing to see so many kids get involved with rugby at such an early age.

“We’re proud to be Primary Rugby League sponsors, to help kids get involved with the sport through the Foundation.

“When I heard about the lack of funding out there to support sport in schools, and being a Rugby League fan myself, I wanted RZ-Clean-Seal to do all that we can as a business to get involved and help.

“It’s our responsibility as business owners in Wakefield to help the next generation of workers and sportspeople, to put the city of Wakefield on the map in as many different ways as possible.

“Wakefield has a fantastic business community and hopefully more and more people can come and get involved in supporting local sport.”
