Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are delighted to announce that Walk With Wakey will head to the AMT Headingley Stadium in 2026!
Walk With Wakey has been an incredibly popular and successful fundraising initiative run by the Community Foundation over a number of years, helping to raise valuable for several charitable partners.
Previous editions of Walk With Wakey have seen our party make the 7.7-mile journey from the DIY Kitchens Stadium to neighbours Castleford Tigers’ OneBore Stadium.
The Foundation have pledged to expand the fundraiser for 2026, with supporters, partners and fellow members of the Wakefield community invited to join us in walking 13 miles from the DIY Kitchens Stadium to AMT Headingley Stadium on Friday 1st May, ahead of that evening’s Betfred Super League clash between Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity (8pm kick-off).
For 2026, we have again partnered with Zarach, the charitable arm of the Wakefield Children’s Bed Appeal, with half of all funds raised supporting their incredible work in our region.
Over 6,000 children in the Wakefield District go to sleep each night without a bed to call their own. Thanks to the work of the Zarach, children in our city are being lifted out of bed poverty.
The other half of the funds raised through Walk With Wakey will help the running of the Foundation’s three Inclusion teams: Learning Disability Rugby League (LDRL), Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) and Wheelchair Rugby League.
Last year, Walk With Wakey raised more than £6,700 for the Wakefield Children’s Bed Appeal and the Foundation.
Participants taking part are asked to raise a minimum of £30, to cover the cost of the match ticket for the Betfred Super League fixture.
The travelling party are asked to meet at the DIY Kitchens Stadium for 12.30pm before departing at 1pm ahead of beginning the trek to Leeds, with an expected 7pm arrival at AMT Headingley Stadium.

“Walk With Wakey has been exceptionally supported by the Wakefield community over recent years, raising vital funds for some amazing charities in our local area, with the 2025 version attracting more than 100 participants and helping to raise over £6,500.
“We’re proud to continue our partnership with Zarach, the charitable arm of the Wakefield Children’s Bed Appeal, and help our support of children within our region out of bed poverty.”
