Wakefield Trinity and Wakefield College are delighted to announce the signing of a new education agreement.
The agreement allows for aspiring professional athletes at Wakefield Trinity to gain an education whilst completing their training commitments with the Super League Club. It also allows the College’s Cat 3 athletes to receive professional training run by the Trinity youth set up.
Head of Youth at Wakefield Trinity, Mark Applegarth said “We are delighted to have agreed to extend our partnership with Wakefield College. Education is at the forefront of what we do here at Wakefield Trinity as it is important we make sure the boys we select have the best chance possible to succeed in life; not just in professional Rugby League. Being in partnership with the College allows us to keep their education at the forefront whilst still delivering high quality training around their timetables.
It also allows for us to coach young College players who might have been missed though the scholarship or are just late in their own personal development. I want to provide as many opportunities as possible to young aspiring professional Rugby League players to give them a shot at making it and this partnership gives us as a club the best of both worlds.”
Head of Sport at Wakefield College, Shaun Cook added “We’ve had some fantastic success working with Wakefield Trinity so far; including rising stars James Batchelor and Zayne Cloete to name just two, and we look forward to continuing this with the extended partnership. Partnerships like these allow us to provide the best education for our students and give them opportunities they wouldn’t get elsewhere.”
