Wakefield Trinity Ladies Held Their Official Launch Night On Monday

Wakefield Trinity Ladies kicked off their 2018 season with an official launch night on Monday.

In front of a packed Legends suite at the Mobile Rocket Stadium, the ladies were presented with their playing shirts by Community Trust ambassadors Danny Kirmond and Tom Johnstone.

Trinity chairman Michael Carter was on hand to open proceedings and commit his full support for the squad, while head coach Chris Chester promised some coaching masterclasses throughout the season.

Ladies team coach Wayne Hirst said, “What a great evening at the Wakefield Trinity Ladies shirt launch. It was great to see so much support for the girls from family, friends, sponsors and staff from the club. With the commitment and attitude from not just the players but the club as a whole I know this year will be a successful one on and off the field. We have a great mixture of youth and experience in our team with new players joining regularly, these are exciting times for Wakefield Trinity Ladies!”

The ladies will begin their championship season at home on Sunday, 15th April against Hull FC Ladies, and are looking to start the season strongly with the aim of a top of the table finish with next year’s Women’s Super League on the horizon.

Michael Carter said, “We are very proud to have a fully-fledged ladies team at Wakefield Trinity, with the current momentum and drive for women and girls rugby league, it is extremely important as a club that we fully support this and help in any way we can to ensure a sustainable pathway for all women and girls in and around the Wakefield district. Wayne has got a great bunch together and I’m sure he will do a fantastic job leading them forward this year. I will be attending as many games as I can to support the ladies team and look forward to their development and successes this year and in years to come”.

Training is every Monday and Wednesday evening 7pm at Sharlston Rovers, the ladies team are always looking for new players to help grow the female game.

Anybody over the age of 16 is welcome to come along, and no experience is necessary. Please email: ladies@wakefieldtrinity.com
