Wakefield Trinity Have Signed Iain Thornley

The 6’6 Centre makes the move from Wigan ahead of the 2024  season. Born in Wigan, Thornley made his mark with Wigan Warriors in his youth and got selected for the England Academy. 

Iain has been a regular in the Wigan set up over his two spells with his hometown club. 


Wakefield Trinity fans will be eager to see what Thornley brings to the team next season. His history of delivering and his versatility as both a centre and winger make him a great addition to the Trinity lineup. 


Iain said ‘I’m made up to have signed for Wakefield and look forward to being part of this new era under Matt Ellis and Daryl Powel. The fans have always been loud whenever I’ve played at Wakefield and I am looking forward to playing in front of them and helping get Wakefield back to where they belong in super league.’


New Head Coach Daryl Powell will be looking to utilise Thornley’s experience as they seek to make an impact in the Championship.

Powell said: ‘I am delighted that Iain Thornley has agreed to join us next season. He is a big powerful centre who has been outstanding for Wigan whenever he has played over the last few seasons. He will add leadership and experience to what is be going to be an exciting backline.’
