Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL is delighted to welcome Rachel Eastwood and Millen Downs, who have signed from West Yorkshire neighbours Featherstone ahead of the 2022 campaign.
With preparations steadily stepping up ahead of the start of the season in March, Trinity welcomes a host of new faces, strengthening the team further as they look ahead to a successful season.
Eastwood – who spent much of her youth toying with the idea of playing either Football or Rugby League – has signed for the club from Rovers after a positive discussion with Wakefield boss Ash Bond.
“My interest in Wakefield came when I bumped into a coach at the Women’s Grand Final at Headingly,” Eastwood told the club’s media department.
“He told me he was going to coach at Wakefield, and after speaking briefly, I said keep me in mind for the future.
“From there, we had a conversation about the club and what it has to offer, and it just sounded too good to pass on.
“Since being at the club, it exceeds all expectations I had. It has a brilliant coaching team and facilities as well as great bunch of girls who are so determined, which is something I want to be a part of who wouldn’t want to be.”
Downs, on the other hand, has had spent a large portion of her career at the Millennium Stadium, joins Trinity fresh-faced and ready to rip in.
“I have always had an interest in playing for the club, as I have friends who have taken a similar route and joined Wakefield,” Downs explained.
“I have always admired the way Trinity played the game, the team spirit and how they helped each other, both on and off the pitch.
“When I saw that the club was having an open trial for this season, I was toying with the idea of taking the plunge.
“I was extremely surprised when I received the email saying I had been accepted. I was over the moon.”
Rachel and Millen are the first of many new faces entering the Trinity ranks for the start of 2022, which kicks off away to Castleford Tigers on 13th March.
