Derby day delight for Trinity as the Ladies run home 32-10 victors at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle in the Challenge Cup.
After two positive performances in pre-season, Wakefield headed into the new campaign full of optimism. With 17 new faces entering the pack for 2022, spirits were high in the Trinity camp as we entered the Jungle to face Castleford.
Looking to get off to the best possible start, Trinity wasted no time in asserting their dominance in the contest.
Abby Price making a smart move down centre-field. The ball was then worked to the left-hand side with Libby Priestley, who then found Kacey Davies to score her first try in Red, White & Blue.
It wasn’t long before Trinity added a second, though. Abbie Millward darted over from dummy-half to give us a 12-0 lead.
Castleford hit back, however, and after an outstanding show-and-go, the home side clawed themselves back into the contest.
However, just like they did in the opening moments, Trinity soon hit back. Aimee-Leigh Wood with an outstanding line break to touch down before Lauren Harvey scored her first try in Trinity colours just before the interval.
An incredible second-half performance from Trinity kept Castleford at bay, working well for each other in defence.
Outstanding work from Saskia at the other end of the pitch found Cassy Lawson, who touched down before Libby Priestley opened her Trinity account.
Castleford did get a second on the scoresheet, but it was only a consolation as we ran home 32-10 winners at the Jungle.
