The long wait for the Super League to start is finally over with Trinity kicking off with a cracker.
Wakefield Trinity:
Pre-season offered a lot of food for thought for Head Coach Willie Poching, with Trinity’s big hitters and young guns gaining a taste of what is to come in the forthcoming Super League season.
After a 10th-placed finish in 2021, Poching and his coaching staff identified a few key players to help push the side up the Super League table in 2022.
The likes of Thomas Minns, Corey Hall and the experienced head of Lee Gaskell will hope to add to the quality already in the pack as we head into the new season.
The Opposition: Hull FC
After falling to defeat in their final pre-season game ahead of 2022, Brett Hodgson and his side will be aiming for a strong start when they visit the Be Well Support Stadium in Round One.
The Airlie Birds don’t have a great record against Trinity, however, with the home side picking up a resounding victory in the final game of last season.
Nevertheless, Hull will be wanting to make a statement and show just what their new side a capable of in their opening game of the season.
The Coach:
Head coach Willie Poching says his side is ready and raring to go as Hodgson and Hull FC visit the Be Well Support Stadium on Sunday.
“We have had a couple of months to get ourselves ready, and it is important that we were prepared to fire on as best we can Sunday afternoon against very strong opposition.
“Regardless of who they put out, what rumours are going around, what personnel they do or don’t have.
“We’re preparing the best we can for the best Hull side to come out here and really put up a challenge.
“We’re like every other side this week, we want to get our season off to the best start possible.”
