Wakefield Trinity fell to a defeat at the Be Well Support Stadium as Huddersfield Giants take a slender 8-0 victory on Friday evening.
Following a first half which followed the tune of a solid Wakefield defence, Trinity just couldn’t hold out as a converted Joe Greenwood try and Tui Lolohea saw the Giants to victory.
A change in line-up was brought by a disappointing day at the office last time out against Wigan as Mark Applegarth rang the changes, starting with Liam Kay in fullback as Jordy Crowther came in at 13.
A slow start to the game as both sides took a feel for the contest, Trinity held their own in the first period without making the visitors pay. With a packed-out North Stand roaring them on, Trinity held firm in defence as the first half came to a scoreless close.
The deadlock scoreline didn’t last too long, though, Lolohea added the two just shortly after the interval following a penalty in the Trinity half.
It was the Giants who looked to further their lead as the second period went on, and it didn’t take the visitors long to add to their advantage. Greenwood completed a move back into centre field as he took on the Trinity defensive line.
As the first 40 wore on, Trinity searched for a route back into the contest, Lino dictating the Trinity attack with the boot, however, it was to no avail a Huddersfield walked away with the two points.
