Summer Series kicks off for Foundation

Wakefield Trinity Community linked up with Huddersfield Giants Community Trust to stage our first Summer Series game of the season.

Following the success of the programme last year, the Foundation was keen to build on the relationships with Community Clubs situated across the district, introducing our Rugby League Summer, Autumn & Winter Series programme for the third time.

Open to those in the U15/16 age groups, we have seen a massive uptake in participants for the 2023 sessions, with over 46 players from across West Yorkshire & Northumbria signing up to develop their skills even further in a unique environment, under the tutelage of specialised coaches.

Playing 20-minute quarters, our development side flourished against a stern opposition as the two Foundations went toe-to-toe following last year’s game at their respective grounds.

With everyone across the two age groups receiving game time, the skill from both sides further showed why Junior Rugby League in West Yorkshire is on the up.

Speaking on the success of the evening’s game, Foundation Rugby League & Inclusion Officer, Charlie Doherty, said, “It was a great spectacle and showed another reason why this programme has been so popular over the past three years.

“Some of the skill shown last night was excellent, once again, and I am looking forward to working with them further over the coming weeks, which includes our first home game of the season.”

Following last night’s match, the next Summer Series game will take place on Wednesday, 2nd August 2023 as we welcome Salford Red Devils to the Be Well Support Stadium.

More information on next week’s game will follow on the Foundation’s social media platforms.

We would also like to take the time to thank Cantidad Limited, Home Instead Wakefield, Bags 4 Everything, RZ Cleaning Services, The Yorkshire Broker, Trinity Walk, MY Hospitals Charity & Andy’s Mans Club for their support.
