Wakefield Trinity can confirm that six players will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
We will pay tribute to each of our departing players following the final home game of the 2025 Betfred Super League season, against Hull KR on Saturday 13th September.
Liam Hood will bid farewell after four seasons in the Red, White and Blue, making 94 appearances for Trinity. A key figure in the club’s 2024 treble-winning campaign, Hood played pivotal roles in the historic 1895 Cup victory at Wembley and the Championship Grand Final success.
As previously announced, Josh Griffin will join York Knights from 2026. The 35-year-old began his career with Trinity in 2008 and has represented the club across three different spells. Returning in 2023 from Hull FC, Griffin has enjoyed a strong resurgence under Head Coach Daryl Powell.
Arriving from Australia in 2023, Renouf Atoni has become a fans’ favourite with his powerful performances and charismatic personality. Across his three seasons, he has made over 60 appearances and left supporters with both memorable moments on the field.
Academy graduate Jack Croft departs after 61 appearances for Trinity. Transitioning into the back row this season, the 24-year-old rediscovered his spark and earned plaudits for his development.
Signed ahead of the 2024 Championship campaign, Mathieu Cozza has been a reliable presence in the pack. The French forward has featured 31 times across two seasons.
Finally, winger Matty Russell, who linked up with Powell again having worked together at Warrington, added experience and strike power to the squad. Despite injuries limiting his opportunities, Russell impressed with six tries in just seven outings.
