Wakefield Trinity’s Past Players’ Association members were delighted to hand over a cheque of over £1000 to Rugby League Cares following their Sponsored Walk in June.
After a gruelling 12-hour journey, members of the association, along with supporters, completed the ‘Wakefield Wheel’, starting at Sandal RUFC before finishing just in time for Trinity’s game against Leeds Rhinos on Sunday 11th June at the Be Well Support Stadium.
The 35-mile hike across Wakefield was made better as Trinity took the victory in the West Yorkshire derby as they continued to raise an incredible amount of money for both RL Cares & the MND Association.
Now, following its success, the Association are pleased to be able to hand over the funds to the RL Cares Welfare Director, Steve McCormack, as they continue to do incredible work to support the game off the field.
Speaking on the success of the event, member of the Wakefield Trinity Past Players’ Association & Player Welfare Manager of the Club, Stuart Dickens, said, “I am delighted that we have raised an incredible sum of money to support RL Cares & the MND Association.
“Those who took part in the walk should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. These funds will go a long way in supporting the game away from the field.”
The Past Players’ Association would like to extend their thanks to everyone who was involved, supported and donated to the cause, confirming that this will now be an annual event.
