Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are thrilled to announce that the 2026 Walk With Wakey has raised £7,160, providing vital funds for Zarach, the Children’s Bed Charity, and the Foundation!
The Foundation embarked on its biggest challenge yet for this year’s Walk With Wakey. After previous journeys to Castleford’s OneBore Stadium, last Friday evening, our 75-strong team made the 13-mile journey to AMT Headingley Stadium ahead of Wakefield Trinity’s Men’s Betfred Super League clash away to Leeds Rhinos.
Thanks to the incredible support from the Wakefield community and beyond, we have raised a remarkable £7,160, smashing our fundraising target and ensuring the largest ever amount raised through our annual fundraising event. This amazing total will be split between Zarach and the Foundation.
Zarach were founded in 2017 with the mission of ending child bed poverty, a tragedy which impacts around 900,000 children in the UK, including more than 6,000 alone in the Wakefield District. The charity, which was founded in Leeds, have delivered over 17,000 beds to children in need since their inception. The £3,580 raised for Zarach will help to provide over 20 beds to young people here in Wakefield, providing meaningful and lasting change to their lives.
Meanwhile, the funds raised for the Foundation will support the continued operations of our three Inclusion teams – our Physical Disability team (PDRL), our Learning Disability team (LDRL) and our Wheelchair team – providing opportunities for those with physical impairments and learning difficulties to represent Wakefield Trinity in Festivals and matches across the country.
Head of Foundation at the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation, Luke Shale, said: “We’re delighted to reveal that this year’s Walk With Wakey has raised an incredible £7,160 – the most we’ve ever raised through Walk With Wakey!
