Navarrete joins Trinity from Wigan!

Wakefield Trinity are delighted to announce the signing of Romain Navarrete on a season-long loan deal from the Wigan Warriors.

Navarrete, 25, joins Trinity ahead of the new season and will add some quality and depth to the middle unit.

The French International has a wealth of experience in Super League, having featured heavily for Wigan Warriors and Catalans Dragons since coming on the scene in 2015.

Speaking on his move to the club, Navarrete is looking forward to getting started: “I’m really pleased to get the opportunity to come here,” said Navarrete.

“I met all of the lads this morning and they were all welcoming. I can’t wait to train with them today and enjoy myself.

“Hopefully I’ll be in contention on Friday. If I get the opportunity to play for Wakefield on Friday, it will be very good.”

Head Coach Chris Chester is pleased to add some depth to the Trinity pack.

“I’m delighted to get Romain in for the 2020 season,” said Chester.

“He’s a tough and aggressive middle unit that has a wealth of experience in Super League, despite being only 25. He’ll add some depth to the pack and I’m looking forward to working with him throughout the year.”

CEO Michael Carter added: “I am delighted to have brought Romain to the Club.

“I would like to thank all those that have joined our Squadbuilder scheme for making this possible. We have had 50 people join and that has managed to fund Romain’s initial cost. We are still targeting 500 people to join the scheme, so I would encourage anyone interested to join now, and be a direct contributor to maintaining this seasons squad. This is a massive part of this club’s future. The Board have taken a leap of faith with this signing, and I hope that the supporters will join up quickly to the Squadbuilder. Our first monthly draw will take place soon and a training shirt signed by Romain will be given away. We will also shortly be announcing our first Squadbuilder event.

“Finally, can I thank Kris Radlinski at Wigan for making this deal possible.”
