Wakefield Trinity Ladies look to add to their victory over Castleford on Sunday as we take on Barrow Raiders Ladies at the Be Well Support Stadium.
Ourselves
A monumental effort saw Wakefield Trinity Ladies take their first victory of the Betfred Women’s Super League season last Sunday as we defeated Castleford 8-4 at the Be Well Support Stadium.
Following a barrage of attack in the first half against a resilient Tigers side, Trinity’s Nataliina Romano opened her account in Red, White & Blue as we registered the first points of the game seven minutes before the interval.
It didn’t stop there, however, and with the wind in their sails, Trinity applied even more pressure, Cassy Lawson doubling up her 2022 against the Tigers following a powerful play.
Castleford did manage to get one back late in the second half, it made no difference to the outcome, though, as we took the victory.
Barrow Raiders Ladies
Much like Wakefield Trinity Ladies, Barrow Raiders were also successful last time out as they defeated Bradford Bulls 18-14.
That victory sees the Cumbrian side now sit third in the Betfred Women’s Super League Group Two table, gaining three wins over the course of the campaign.
Looking to build on their positive start, the side will prove a tough test for Trinity as we face them back-to-back over the next couple of weeks.
Coach’s Corner:
Wakefield Trinity Ladies’ head coach Charlie Doherty spoke to the media ahead of this Sunday’s game against Barrow Raiders Ladies.
“[I was absolutely buzzing [to get the victory]. It ended up being a tough battle and I was really happy with how the girls dug in and ground out the win.
“Determination and togetherness were the two big ones for us. Even when things went wrong during the game heads never went down, we pulled together as a team and worked hard for each other.
“It’s another tough test that we’re looking forward to. They’ve played together for a long time so can play off of each other without having to think about it.”
