Wakefield Trinity Ladies look to bounce back from defeat on Saturday as we make the short trip to Featherstone to take on the Flatcappers.
Ourselves:
Despite defeat on Saturday, there were plenty of positives to take from our own performance as Megan Preston and Sophia Liu registered their first tries of the BWSL season.
A strong defensive effort and some great moves in attack saw Trinity go close against the Bulls and will be looking to add to that as we make the short trip across West Yorkshire on Sunday.
The Opposition: Featherstone Rovers Ladies
After starting their season in the best possible way, Featherstone suffered defeat for the first time last Sunday as the league’s big-hitters Warrington took a 48-0 victory.
However, after already beating Trinity once so far this season in the Challenge Cup and bolstered by Fran Copley’s inclusion in the Ireland RL squad, Rovers will be looking to get back to winning ways.
The Coach:
Wakefield Trinity Ladies’ coach Charlie Doherty speaks to the media ahead of Sunday’s clash with Featherstone.
“The Bradford game showed us what we need to work on, especially attacking-wise. We gave them too many chances through our errors. I think our defence stood up well and better than it has in previous weeks and that’s a real positive that we’re focussing on going forward.
“There were some great performances against last Saturday, on both sides of the ball. It was great to see Megan Preston get her first try for us; Sophia Liu had a standout performance on her debut and managed to get over the line; Grace Firth, who’s new to us this season, put in a solid performance at prop; Liv Cummins had another great defensive performance and is someone we know we can rely on in those tough defensive moments.
“That’s just to name a few, we had players all over that had good performances we just need to link all those together now.”
