Wakefield Trinity Ladies look to bounce back from defeat at the Be Well Support Stadium on Sunday as we travel to Barrow Raiders Ladies for round eight of the Betfred Women’s Super League.
Ourselves
With a trip to Cumbria on the horizon this weekend, it was actually this Sunday’s opponents who condemned Trinity to defeat last time out as the Raiders took a 50-4 victory on a sweltering day at the Be Well Support Stadium.
Following a fast start, Trinity got off in the best possible way as Olivia Cummins dotted down following a teasing Saskia Lewis kick to the corner.
Unfortunately for Wakefield, Barrow soon hit back, taking the game to Trinity as they ran over 50 points to claim the two points.
Coach’s comments:
Wakefield Trinity Ladies’ head coach, Charlie Doherty, spoke to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to Cumbria.
“Despite the scoreline, there were a lot of positives for us to take into this Sunday’s game, and we’ve worked on these at training during the week.
“There has been a good mood in the camp this week. We’ve not focused on the negatives, instead, we’ve looked at the positives and where we can utilise them more in the game. We’ve also looked at tweaking certain aspects of our game we feel could help us massively.
“That’s the first time we’ve faced Barrow, so we learned a lot about them in last week’s game. We’ve reviewed the game and looked at where we can exploit and combat specific parts of their game, so, hopefully, we will put that into effect on Sunday.”
Barrow Raiders Ladies
Before back-to-back games against Wakefield, Barrow Raiders Ladies were on a four-game winning streak, which shot them up to fourth in the BWSL.
A victory over Trinity last time out offered the Cumbrian side the confidence to keep their winning streak going as we look to cause an upset on Sunday.
