Six Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL players received their club heritage numbers over the weekend in Sunday’s Challenge Cup victory over Castleford.
Since being founded in 2016, the side has had over 130 different players pull on the Red, White & Blue shirt for the first time.
After a lot of hard work and recruitment in the offseason, the club has debuted a whole host of new faces, with the next six names writing their names into Wakefield Trinity history.
The first name on the list is Megan Preston (131). After signing in the offseason, the centre was given a starting number, playing a vital role in victories over Hull KR and Castleford, respectively.
The second name is that of winger Amy Bennett (132). The ex-Warrington youngster started her Wakefield journey in 2022 after impressing at university and international level for her country.
Starting in all of Trinity’s games so far this season, including filling in at fullback on Sunday, Amy has settled in well to life at Wakefield.
Taking the next number is forward Cassy Lawson (133). Signing from Hull FC with sister Leonie, Cassy was given the vice-captaincy in the offseason. Known for her big metres and strong tackles, she has scored three tries in two games so far in 2022 and looks to add more in the future.
Relatively new signings Libby Priestley and Lauren Harvey takes numbers 134 and 135, respectively. The two new signings have collectively scored three tries this season, with both touching down on their debuts.
With a long season ahead, both will look to help the team as much as possible, making big metres in centre-field as well as crossing the whitewash every now and then.
Finally, Phoebe Evans (136) will take the last heritage number this weekend. Signing from Sheffield Hawks in the offseason, Phoebe has played an instrumental part in Trinity’s strong start to both pre-season and the Challenge Cup, looking to add more fine displays over the course of 2022.
