Wakefield Trinity are proud to announce Kieron Purtill as the club’s new Academy Head Coach.
In an ambitious move, Trinity have recruited the former Huddersfield, Leigh and Widnes Head Coach to work alongside Head of Youth, John Bastian and Head of Talent, Recruitment & Operations, Simon Bell.
Purtill joins Wakefield from Super League side Leigh Leopards having held the Head of Youth role at the Leopards while also coaching the team’s Women’s side.
A highly thought of coach, Purtill comes with a vast amount of experience having also held Assistant Coach roles at St Helens and Hull KR in his career.
Upon joining the club, Kieron Purtill said: “ I’m really excited to get started in this new role. The vision of the club and what Matt and his family have done for the club since taking over not only with the first team but in the community made the decision to come here a very easy sell. I’m looking forward to a new challenge and buying into the vision that has been set here at Wakefield.”
Director of Rugby Ste Mills said: “We’re over the moon to bring a man of Kieron’s experience on board in our Youth department to head up the Academy. Having previously worked with Kieron, I know he is the perfect fit for this role and as part of the coaching set up that we have here at Wakefield. He is a consummate professional and will continue alongside John Bastian, Simon Bell and the rest of the coaching setup to push Trinity’s youth teams forward.”
