JOB VACANCY: Head of Youth Athletic Development

Job Title  – Head Of Youth Athletic Development

Reporting to the Head of Strength and Conditioning and Head of Youth. You would be responsible for delivering a world class strength and conditioning program for the reserve and academy team. The role would also see you oversee all strength and conditioning requirements for the scholarship team.

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • To plan, manage and implement the reserve and academy teams’ strength and conditioning programme and provide support and guidance to the scholarship programme.
  • Deliver a world-class strength and conditioning programme targeted for the demands of playing super league, with individual needs taken into account. To include both gym and field work.
  • Provide supervision and guidance in practical gym settings to ensure correct execution is being met for the needs of all individual players. To both prevent injury and improve performance.
  • To aid with on field training sessions and assist where needed.
  • Oversee the GPS data collection and use of this data to build effective and appropriate load management for each players programming.
  • Record plans and report on progress using Team Builder and any other databases system in use.
  • Endorse a ‘Return to Perform’ approach to injury management that considers both the physical and psychological demands of rugby league.
  • In conjunction with the clubs testing procedures and assessments build and monitor individual player progress to be use in quarterly assessments and meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with coaches and medical staff to ensure performance plans are aligned and requirements being met.
  • Consider the welfare and holistic management of a player for their current situation.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in working with elite junior players for 3+ years
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with both the playing group and coaches that you work with.
  • Evidence of Strength and Conditioning programme design and practical implementation for rugby league players.
  • Exceptional work ethic and ability to provide a high level of energy within the workplace.
  • Have a good understanding of, and the ability to utilise in practice, current sport science technology to help guide programming.

Qualifications

  • BSc In Sport and Exercise Science (or equivalent)
  • UKCSA accredited or the ability to obtain within 6 months.

Salary – £35,000 per annum
