Jay Pitts is staying with Trinity!

Wakefield Trinity can confirm that Jay Pitts has resigned with the club for the 2025 season.

The 34-year old has been a stalwart of the lineup throughout 2024 and looks to be playing some of his best Rugby League under the tutelage of Daryl Powell.

Having re-joined the club in 2020, Pitts has gone on to make over 120 appearances for the Red, White and Blue.

He made his First Team debut for Wakefield back in 2008 before moving on to Leeds Rhinos in 2010.

Stints at Hull FC and Bradford Bulls followed before Pitts joined London Broncos and helped steer them back into Super League, playing in the halves in the Million Pound Game win over Toronto Wolfpack at the end of 2018.

On signing his new deal, Jay Pitts said: “I’m over the moon to be staying at Wakefield, as you get older and older you’re not sure how much longer you can keep going. This year I’ve really enjoyed myself. I’m recovering well every week and still feel like I’m contributing a lot to the team and while Powelly and the rest of the coaches are happy with what I’m doing, my plan is to play as long as I can.”

Trinity Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “Pittsy has been outstanding since day one of pre-season. He has an unbelievable work rate and is incredibly knowledgeable about the game. He has done a great job linking our middle unit and edges together this year. Alongside his ability on the field, he’s a quality person and leader as well which makes him really valuable to the group as a whole. We had no hesitation in offering him a deal to stay with us next season to face our next challenge.”
