Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL confirm the signing of Lauren Harvey ahead of tomorrow’s derby day clash with Castleford Tigers in the Challenge Cup.
Harvey becomes the club’s newest recruit, following the signings of Emilia Povall-Clarke, Megan Preston and Gayatri Gambhir in recent weeks.
After previous stints in the Women’s Super League with Castleford and Leeds, Harvey started her Rugby League journey at Castleford Panthers before moving onto Featherstone Lions and Oulton Raidettes, respectively.
However, her journey has led her to the Be Well Support Stadium and she is eager to get started in Red, White & Blue.
“I am very pleased to have signed for Wakefield,” she explained.
“It is a new starting point for me, to get back into playing rugby and getting the love for the game back again.
“It is a new adventure for me, and my rugby career and I am ecstatic to be starting with the club in 2022.”
Over the past couple of months, the club has created strong foundations to build on throughout the upcoming year.
With new signings and team bonding trips to Kendrew Barracks, Trinity have pulled together a strong squad, propped up by team spirit, which was something that appealed to Harvey when making a decision.
“I have seen the social media posts all about how the group of girls are like a family,” she followed.
“You can just walk through the door and it’s like sitting with a group of people that you have known for years.”
Building up to the new season, the club has had a strong pre-season, gaining a comprehensive victory over Hull KR before falling just short away to Salford.
However, with the new campaign scheduled to begin tomorrow, Harvey is looking forward to what 2022 may bring.
“I expect to help the team with my experience, bringing confidence in playing and hope to be able to be a big impact in the games ahead.
“My personal aims for 2022 are to get back to the best player that I can be. I just want to get my fitness back up and make sure I am putting 100 percent into training and, hopefully, pulling a shirt on by the end of the week.”
You can watch Lauren in the side’s first game tomorrow against neighbours Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Challenge Cup at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle (2pm KO).
