Hampshire signs a two-year deal!

Wakefield Trinity can confirm that Ryan Hampshire has signed a two-year deal with the club!

Hampshire was out of contract at the end of 2019, and although terms couldn’t be agreed at first, the 24-year-old has signed a deal to remain in the Red, White & Blue until the end of 2021.

The utility-back scored 14 tries last season, whilst also making 14 assists.

Speaking on his new contract, Hampshire, who is sponsored by Yorkshire Wills & Probate, said:

“I’m really pleased with this two-year deal. Both parties are happy with how it’s been done.

“I’m just looking forward to pre-season now. I’ll enjoy the rest of my time off and then I’ll be ripping in to get ready for 2020.”

Head Coach, Chris Chester, is pleased to have Hampshire on-board.

“I’m really pleased we’ve agreed a deal with Rocky for him to remain at Trinity for the next two years.

“Rocky was good for us in 2019 and now that there’s a deal in place, I’m looking forward to welcoming him back in for pre-season and seeing him in the Red, White & Blue for the next two years.”

Chief-Executive, Michael Carter, also welcomes the signing of Hampshire.

“I am personally delighted that we have been able to agree a new two-year deal for Rocky.

“There has been too much written and said on social media by people who, quite frankly, should know better and have embarrassed themselves.

“Thankfully myself and Rocky have been able to continue dialogue like adults should, concluding in eventually agreeing a deal which satisfies both parties ambitions. What I am particularly pleased with is that this is a two-year deal showing the Club’s commitment to Rocky and vice versa.

“Rocky had a good season last year, and I look forward to seeing him go from strength to strength over the next 2 years and hopefully beyond that. I always felt that Rocky didn’t want to leave, and likewise, I have never wanted to see him leave either.”
