Girls Emerging Player Pathway extended for 2025/26!

September 16, 2025

The Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are delighted to announce an extended ASUS Girls Emerging Player Pathway (EPP) programme for the 2025/26 season!

More than 150 Girls players were part of last season’s inaugural Girls EPP programme, providing open-access Rugby League opportunities for Players in Years 9 to Year 11, complementing their opportunities at Community Club level.

Alongside high-quality training sessions led by Women’s Head Coach and the Foundation’s Women and Girls Player Pathway Co-Ordinator Jacob Holmes, players competed in matches against fellow age-group teams against Salford Red Devils last season.

Ahead of 2025/26, we’re delighted to announce that the forthcoming season will feature an increase in training dates alongside the inclusion of sessions for players in Years 7 and Years 8.

Wakefield Trinity Women’s Head Coach and the Foundation’s Womens and Girls Player Pathway Co-Ordinator, Jacob Holmes, said: “We were delighted to welcome over 150 players to last season’s first edition of Girls EPP from a range of Community Clubs across Wakefield and West Yorkshire.

“Our Girls EPP programme is a vital part of the Womens and Girls Player Pathway at Wakefield Trinity, providing a key engagement opportunity between ourselves and local players in our area, which is full of young and promising talent.

“The programme provides a direct link to our Girls Aspire and Girls College teams, in partnership with Wakefield College, as we seek to produce future stars for the Wakefield Trinity Women’s First-Team.

“The new season of Girls EPP will be expanded to include opportunities for players in Years 7 and 8, to further extending our reach in the Junior Girls game, alongside our regular Community Outreach sessions with Community Club teams across Wakefield and West Yorkshire.”

In order to support the running costs of the ASUS Girls Emerging Player Pathway, there is a £10 registration fee, which covers players for the entirety of the 2025-26 season, from October 2025 to August 2026.
