Foundation’s Girls Development Academy relaunches for September

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is delighted to announce that our Girls Development Academy sessions will recommence in September following a positive year.

After starting in April 2023, the programme found instant success, gaining over 70+ participants throughout the first cohort of sessions, taking players away from their Community Club sessions, and offering them the chance to play with new players within a unique environment.

After months of hard work, those involved were offered the chance to take to the field for the very first time, showcasing their skills within game situations ahead of our clash against Warrington Wolves as part of our Inclusion Round fixture in July.

Designed based on a set of principles to increase skill levels and decision-making, the programme is mapped out to work together with club Rugby by picking a night unlikely to clash with girls’ current training schedules with their community clubs.

Each session will incorporate game scenarios to help develop the players’ ability to adapt to different situations, being encouraged to problem-solve whilst trying to find solutions to beat the game they’re playing.

Each game will have increases in skill levels to challenge the players to adopt new skills to progress through the games, hopefully, developing for their current club teams, whilst improving their skill set to then play Women’s Super League in the future and hopefully join Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL or a future Wakefield Trinity Academy.

Sessions will recommence on Monday, 18th September 2023 at the Be Well Support Stadium from 6pm.
