Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are proud to have partnered with Wakefield Street Kitchen to support our three Inclusion teams.
Wakefield Street Kitchen provides food, clothing and support for the homeless and all those in need throughout the Wakefield district. The charity’s dedicated volunteers also run a ‘Meals on Wheels’ service to give hot and nutritious meals to local people.
As part of the partnership, Wakefield Street Kitchen will supply the Foundation with protein bars, glucose gels and isotonic sports drinks for our Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) and Wheelchair Rugby League teams.
In addition, the Learning Disability Super League (LDSL) side will be given items for the fundraising raffles which are held at the DIY Kitchens Stadium on matchdays, with all funds raised supporting the running costs of the team.
The partnership ensures that we can provide further support for our Inclusion teams, help reduce food waste and build a relationship between two local charities.
Wakefield Street Kitchen Founder Anna Natasha Howard said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation through the donation of a variety of items, ensuring that the Inclusion teams keep them hydrated, fuelled up and able to further enjoy being part of their amazing teams.
“We’ve been running since 2019 here at the Wakefield Street Kitchen, starting with three small trolleys in the city centre and now we’ve grown into a far bigger organisation.
“On a weekly basis, the Street Kitchen provides free hot meals for anyone in need at Garden Street while on a Friday, our ‘Meals on Wheels’ service delivers to people in temporary accommodation, having developed relationships with local hostels.
“We also have the food bank, which drops off food parcels to people who are in need within our local area.
“We get incredible donations from major organisations, such as Amazon and Warburtons, which allows us to supply food parcels and household items to other charities and organisations, having reached out to just short of 50 different charities and organisations to date.”
Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation Social and Inclusion Officer Jack Pemberton said: “I’d like to give a huge thanks to Wakefield Street Kitchen for their support as part of this new partnership.
“Wakefield Street Kitchen will be supporting the nutrition we can provide for our PDRL and Wheelchair teams, who play in competitive competitions, so it’s great that we can offer them that little bit of an edge, which we’re really grateful for.
“They’re also supporting our LDSL team with items donated from Amazon with items that can be used for raffle to raise funds to be able to support the side.
“The Street Kitchen is a really impressive organisation with a huge site and the work that they do within our local community is incredible, helping people that need support, and they’re now at a point where they’re helping out other charities too.”
