Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are delighted to unveil ‘Tackling Cancer’, a new project in partnership with the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance!
‘Tackling Cancer’ seeks to raise awareness of early signs and symptoms of cancer, helping to improve early diagnosis rates among the most vulnerable people in Wakefield.
As part of the partnership, the Foundation will deliver prevention and awareness information to Wakefield Trinity supporters through various FanZone matchday activation activities. Alongside this, the Foundation will utilise our social media channels to promote key ‘Tackling Cancer’ messages as well as engaging with our community through messages from our Men’s and Women’s First-Team players.
The ‘Tackling Cancer’ workshop programme will connect with the Foundation’s existing range of participants to provide activities for those more vulnerable to cancer while the creation of a supportive forum will provide beneficiaries with a space to feel safe, supported, and empowered to share information on the barriers and challenges they face.
Head of Foundation at Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation, Luke Shale, said: “We’re proud to partner with the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance and continue to build on their hugely impactful work across our county.
“By partnership with the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance and through the power of Rugby League and the Wakefield Trinity brand, we can support so many people in our local community, providing important health messaging to those at risk of cancer.
“We hope that the partnership can benefit the people of Wakefield and beyond and have a positive and lasting impact to those in our region.”
