Wakefield Trinity have secured the future of Thomas Doyle on a two-year deal.
The popular hooker has been a revelation at Trinity since joining at the start of the season and fans will be excited to see that Doyle will now be with Wakefield until at least the end of 2026.
The 24-year old stepped up to a full time environment this year after joining from Keighley Cougars having previously come through the academy system at Bradford Bulls.
So far in 2024, Doyle has made 15 appearances and bagged a crucial try just before half time at Wembley in Wakefield’s AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final victory.
After signing his new deal, Thomas Doyle says staying at Trinity was the only thing on his mind: “I’m over the moon to be staying at Wakefield for the next two years. It’s been something that I’ve been wanting ever since the start of pre-season. As soon as I got to know the players and the coaching staff here I wanted to extend my time here.
Working with these experienced coaches has really brought my game on leaps and bounds. The competition that I am around with the rest of the team has really spurred me on in my game, I’m forever competing with people. I’m not the finished article yet but I’m looking forward to stepping up next year and challenging myself at the top level.”
Trinity Head Coach, Daryl Powell said: “Since pre-season Doyley has been a pleasure to work with. His work ethic is outstanding and his ability as a hooker is improving all the time. We are delighted to extend his time at the club and I am confident we have a consistent Super League player who will continue to get better in our environment.”
Wakefield’s Recruitment Manager, Ste Mills said: “I am delighted we have managed to retain Tommy Doyle for the next two years, he has really impressed and is growing day by day in our environment. He has a first class attitude and I am more than confident he will continue to play a big part at Wakefield Trinity.”
