Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation has been humbled by the generous donations collected for Wakefield Street Kitchen through Trinity Under the Stars 2023.
Through our work with the Kitchen over the last couple of years, we thought seeing them supported over the winter months was important.
As the cold draws in and the festive season approaches, many will be utilising the services of food banks across the UK. According to statistics posted in March 2023, figures showed that in 2021/22, 2.1 million Brits had used a food bank in the previous 12 months.
With the costs of living rising, this number will only worsen across the next few years, with Wakefield Street Kitchen acting as much more than a kitchen, helping families in need over December & January.
To help with their work, the Foundation was taken aback by the generosity of the community, with Wakefield College, Garforth Tigresses, XBM Ltd, the Finance Team at Pinderfields Hospital, Normanton Junior Academy and members of the Wakefield Trinity fanbase pulling together food and clothes to be donated.
Speaking on the feat, Foundation Media & Commercial Executive, William Moore, said, “We are delighted with the uptake we have had to our food donation appeal.
“With the amount that Wakefield Street Kitchen has done for us, I am proud that schools, local businesses and supporters have rallied to donate as much as they have. It is brilliant.”
