Brad Walker joins Trinity on two-year deal

Wakefield Trinity are delighted to announce the signing of Brad Walker on a two-year deal.

The highly-rated youngster joins Trinity from Betfred Championship side Widnes Vikings, where he made over 30 appearances in 2019.

The 21-year-old made his Super League debut in 2016 in a 28-38 win over Castleford Tigers. Walker has made nine appearances in the top tier so far in his career and has played a total of 40 games for the Vikings who he joined at the age of 16.

Whilst Walker has signed a two-year deal at Trinity, the loose-forward will be spending time with Newcastle Thunder on-loan during 2020.

Speaking on his move to Trinity, Walker said: “Im over the moon to be joining Wakefield. I’ve always wanted to play Super League and it’s been my aspiration since I was a young kid, so I’m overwhelmed to get the chance to play for Wakefield.

“I’m a ball-playing loose-forward. I’ve always looked up to Sean O’Loughlin and I want to develop into that sort of player. I just really enjoy getting my hands on the ball.”

Head Coach, Chris Chester, added: “I’m really pleased that Brad Walker has joined the club on a two-year deal. I’ve been particularly impressed with him at Widnes where he played over 30 times for them last year.

“He’s a tough loose-forward who’s got plenty of skill with the ball and I’ve been impressed with him during his first week in training.

“Brad will be spending time at Newcastle Thunder in 2020 which will give him the opportunity to get regular game time.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him develop and watching him in the Red, White & Blue in the future.”
