Wakefield Trinity Ladies’ winger Amy Bennett expressed that he is “excited” ahead of Sunday’s Challenge Cup clash with Featherstone Rovers.
Two weeks from our derby day win over Castleford, Trinity face a fresh test at the Be Well Support Stadium, as the Flat Cappers make the short trip across West Yorkshire.
That victory over Castleford has stood Wakefield in good stead, however, topping their group after the first round of fixtures, a feat the team is incredibly proud to achieve.
“I loved our derby cup game last Sunday,” Bennett explained.
“Energy was high and everyone was working with each other. It was great to show and put into place what we’d been working on in training.
“The atmosphere on and off the pitch was amazing, everyone’s emotions were so high after the game. I feel beating Castleford boosted everyone’s confidence. It was great to sing the team song after the win, too.”
After joining in the offseason, Bennett has soon found her feet at the Be Well support Stadium, starting in every game, both pre-season and the Challenge Cup.
As a versatile player amongst that backline, Amy has found herself playing two different positions so far this season, further exaggerating the strength in depth the squad has.
“I’m loving training and playing for Wakefield,” she followed.
“All the girls are great players and are so nice, with all the coaching staff constantly helping me to grow and develop as a player.
“I love being on the pitch with the girls because everyone just gets on great and works well with one another. I feel I’ve known them a lot longer than I have.”
A victory last Sunday was important, however, the team look to grow throughout the season and test themselves against the best, something Featherstone will look to provide.
“I’m really excited for the game against Featherstone on Sunday.
“We’re going to go out there and give it everything and, hopefully, come back with the win.
“It would be great to grab the victory to confirm our place in the next round of the cup, we have all been working hard, so will be giving everything on Sunday to try and secure that win.”
