Wakefield Trinity warmly welcomes Ben Lazenby, a seasoned professional with over 17 years of experience in nurturing young rugby talent.
His background includes pivotal roles at Warrington Wolves as Player Performance Manager and Head of Youth, and at Yorkshire Carnegie as Academy Manager, where he developed players for top-tier rugby. Ben’s recent tenure at Hull KR saw him successfully reinstating their academy licence and revitalizing their player pathway.
Ben said; “I am really excited about joining Wakefield Trinity, there’s a real buzz about the club and I’m looking forward to working with Daryl.”
“The Trinity Academy has developed some fantastic young players in recent years and there are some brilliant staff committed to developing future talented players, I’m looking forward to further refining our pathway with them and creating something really special.”
“I aim to align community, foundation, academy and senior rugby; create more developmental opportunities for longer whilst simultaneously supporting early identifying talented players; engage and support the community rugby league clubs who are our lifeblood and take them on the journey with us; as well as explore how we widen and grow the potential talent pool for long term success and depth of talent. “
“Over the next few weeks, I’ll be getting to know the staff and players, observing delivery, asking questions and working closely with Matty Nicholson to shape a short, medium and long-term plan.”
Ben’s expertise in both Rugby League and Union is set to bring a fresh, dynamic approach to player development at Wakefield Trinity. We’re excited for the new perspectives Ben will contribute to our club, enhancing our commitment to nurturing young talent and driving forward our success in the sport.
