This May sees the fortieth anniversary of Wakefield Trinity’s last visit to Wembley Stadium and the club are planning an evening with various members of that 1979 squad.

The club have already paid tribute to the ‘Boys of 1979’ by using the Wembley shirt as the 2019 home playing jersey, and celebrating captain, David Topliss’s great achievements by playing for his memorial trophy, against Hull in January. Members of that team and squad will be attending the event

The event is also doubling up as the ‘2019 Hall of Fame’ night whereby four former players will be inducted, to go alongside the sixteen legends already inducted in 2014 and 2015. Heritage certificates will also presented to members of the 1979 squad.

The event, which was originally pencilled in for 7pm on Friday 3rd May, will now take place 24 hours later on Saturday 4th May here at the Mobile Rocket Stadium. This is due to our away game at Huddersfield being moved to Friday.

The event is still open to the public at £50 per head with a three course meal accompanying the awards ceremony. Tables of 10 or 12 can be booked for £400. To book, contact Verity by emailing vt@wakefieldtrinity.com or by calling 01924 211611 (option 2)
