The 2020 Wakefield Trinity Ladies squad has been revealed ahead of the new Betfred Women’s Super League season.
Coach Francis Maloney has named his 28 playing squad ahead of the Betfred Women’s Superleague season.
Trinity Ladies were set to kick off their 2020 campaign this coming Sunday with their opening clash against near neighbours Featherston Rovers.
Recruitment and pre-season training have gone well with a number of new additions into the team and a mixture of youth and seasoned players making up the 28 playing squad.
Maloney is enthused with the how the Ladies have committed to an extended pre-season regime so far: “We have had a long pre-season so far and all the ladies have really upped their game ready for this season to start. We knew we needed to be a lot fitter this year as we struggled to compete for the full 80 through 2019. We have had a couple of friendlies recently which gave me the opportunity to see all the girls put into practice what we have been working on and although we have still got plenty of improving in us, it was really promising to see things come together”.
Maloney added: “We have been able to retain some key players from last year along with some exciting new additions into the squad and I am really positive about what this year will bring us on the park. I know we might be underdogs again, but we as a group will thrive on that and go out their week in week out and take our best game to the rest of the Women’s Super League teams. I can’t wait for the season to get started now and I know the Ladies are raring to go”.
Dani Swaine will continue as captain for the side through 2020 with Becky Brierley and Claire Reynard both appointed as Vice Captains.
