Winter Series draws Foundation success

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is pleased with the feedback received from our Rugby League Winter Series as it concluded in Salford on Saturday.

Over the past few months, the Club & Foundation has been committed to making sure that community players up and down the district receive the utmost development as they continue to strive to work their way up the Rugby League ladder.

Following the conclusion of their regular season as well as the Summer and Autumn Series late last year, the Foundation made history by introducing the first-ever Winter Series, proudly sponsored by Copiserv.

This was a great opportunity for Under-15s & Under-16s to come together and showcase their skills in front of Wakefield Trinity staff through training and games.

After two positive performances before Christmas, our two sides were back in action on Saturday as they travelled across the Pennines to face the Red Devils, putting in a fine performance on a chilly day.

Speaking on the success of the programme, Rugby League & Inclusion Officer, Charlie Doherty, said, “We are delighted with the response to our first-ever Winter Series, which has brought a huge amount of talent to our attention.

“Over the past few months, we have seen some great development across the programme, both U15s & U16s, which will stand them in good stead for when they go back to their community clubs.

“We can’t wait to do it all again in the Summer.”
